So, I've been thinking lately. Byond has a lot of games, but most are just rips and or loosely anime based. There also aren't that many games doing that well right now outside of a couple loosely anime based games.

This has me wondering, what all does byond need right now game wise? I think making a list would be fun, so there's the purpose of this topic.

What type of game(s) do you feel byond needs most? As a user of byond, what would you most enjoy playing? Go ahead, make suggestions, get into discussions, perhaps even detailed ideas. I'll edit everything into a list in this post. Then we can see what we've come up with when it's all said and done.

Who knows, maybe we'll all be surprised with the results?

a story-driven game would be a nice start

I agree. But what kind of story-driven game? It would need a good concept, to build the story off of. Something interesting, that keeps the players mind in and on the game.

probably single-player would work best, imo but you could add PvP elements to it or something. RPG's tend to work best with story-driven games, fantasy or not. concepts could be just about anything but the recent most popular one is the post-apocalyptic genre where the earth has significantly changed due to something like nuclear war or an alien invasion. a time travelling one would probably be interesting too and gives you, as the creator, a lot of versatility with the story line.

i actually remember one dragon ball game on byond which sort've had a storyline in it. you made your character and progress your way through the area where you first spawn. and then, what was for me a byond first, a cutscene with some stranger. can't remember exactly how it went but after some dialogue and 'yes' or 'no' replies, he knocked you out. you wake up inside a house where someone took the liberty to save you and treat you. this person then becomes pretty important to you (quests, teams-up with you, saves you when versing this particular boss whom you had no chance against etc.). climax of the game is that battle with the stranger you saw early on. after beating the guy and pretty much completing the main story of the game, it's pretty cool looking back to how much stronger you got from your first encounter to his death.

so yeah, it can be done with PvP anime games.

What's funny about that? There's already those type of games out. I can't see what's funny...

I would like to see a decent Yu Yu Hakusho game. I want all these Naruto, DBZ and Bleach games to go bye bye.

As for rips, I think some rich mofo should be the true benefactor for BYOND, so BYOND don't need to keep the noobs who are ripping to get thier money. I reckon if I won the lottery I would pay BYOND to remove every rip.

I also think BYOND needs more developers. There's very few good programmers and pixel artists on BYOND, and the rips are the people pushing them away. As they don't want to be stolen from.

Thanksfor that Howey and I would like to see a good Yu Yu Hakusho game I like that show, but it would be great to have a Death Note game also.

yeah, a gangster game would be pretty fun. could set it to a mafia-type theme.

Well thats what I was thinking of when I said a gangster game but they should be all types of mafia's.

A game like that does sound good. It would be interesting.

Hmm. I'd like to see a good Zelda, and Kingdom hearts game, each, come up.

A good adventure game in general would be nice, as well. Something like Zelda, but only that general type. Adventure, but with unique puzzles or strategy based combat. Just something to make you think a bit.

Another thought. I was just thinking, and does byond even have any good pirate based games? Maybe a game where you sail the seas in search of boats to plunder, islands with buried treasure, and other pirate boats to sink. I think it would be pretty interesting.

I've never heard of any pirate based games on Byond, but I think that would also be a good game to play.

There's one piece games being worked on, but as for general pirate games I'm not to sure.
